The Alaska Baptist Church student ministry exists to partner with parents to help teens grow in the Lord, glorify God, and share the good news of Jesus Christ with others in their community and the world!
This is accomplished through regular teaching and preaching, small groups, one-on-one discipleship, youth activities, mission trips, and serving roles within the church and the community.
Students have various meetings where they are able to fellowship and grow closer to Christ. Sunday school (Sundays 11am-11:50am) and Youth group meetings (Sundays 5:30pm-7pm) are developed to allow each student to mature in Christ. There’s a lot of laughter, games, and fun along the way and each activity encourages fellowship and friendship while equipping each student with a comprehensive knowledge of God’s Word.
The annual Youth Group’s Hunt For The Red is one of the most looked-forward Fall events. Be sure to set aside this Friday night for the FREE, fun, competitive event in the woods of the church property- which runs from 6:00pm – 10:00pm. Invite your friends to come along so they can join in on the fun!
The Culver’s fundraiser we had earlier this year was successful .. so we’re doing another- this time at the Cascade Culver’s location [6300 28th Street SE, Grand Rapids 49546]. All church family members – and friends – who order at Culver’s from 5:00pm – 8:00pm this day and mention the Alaska Baptist Youth Group will help us raise funds for next year’s Youth Mission Trip to Greece.
We will again make our way to Deep Roots on this Saturday night from 7:00pm – 9:00pm to do their Glow Night Corn Maze. Can you find your way out?!? The cost is $15 per person. This is another great event to invite a friend(s) to join. Parents: please plan to drop off (7pm) and pick up (9pm) your students at Deep Roots. Thank you!
“All Nighter!”. Two words that most every teen is excited to hear (not so much for the adult leaders). The next All Nighter runs from Nov. 6, 11:00pm until Nov. 7, 5:00am. The cost ($36 per student) includes a pizza buffet, all attractions and the Jump Park. Parents: please plan to drop off and pickup at Craig’s Cruisers. The annual tradition continues with having another Game Night with the Maranatha Class. This year, we’ll have the event on this evening from 6:00pm – 7:00pm. Students: remember to pray for your prayer partner as well as for the Maranatha Class. PLEASE ALSO COMPLETE THE BELOW FORM PRIOR TO THE EVENT.

From 5:00pm – 9:00pm this night, we’ll be visiting different families from church as we partake in enjoying a progressive dinner. After that, we’ll make our way back to the church to watch a movie. It will be a fun, engaging night from start to finish. Cost will be $10 per student.
At the 5:30pm Youth Group meeting this Sunday evening, we’ll be making Christmas ornaments and cards for the Maranatha class, for our missionaries, and for the church Shut-ins. It will be an evening where you can let your creative side show during the artsy gathering.
Next year’s Summer Mission Trip is going to require A LOT of fundraisers. Starting on this Sunday, we’ll be raising money by bringing treats – and collecting voluntary donations – during the normal fellowship time after the church service and before Sunday School. The goal is to have Mission Munchies as often as we reasonably can from this date until May 2, 2027.
SAVE THE DATE. Plans are currently in the works to have a Youth Missions Trip fundraiser this day. Will share additional details once the plans are finalized.
The Youth Group meeting this Sunday evening will run from 5:00pm – 7:00pm so as to allow plenty of time for Christmas Caroling. We’ll meet at the church (5pm) and then take the bus to get around. It will also be best to wear warm clothes- since we expect to be outside for a good portion of the night.
Food? check. Fun? check. Ugly sweaters? check. White elephant ($10) gifts? check. No matter how you look at it, the annual Youth Group Christmas Party is consistently a great event that you don’t want to miss. Again for this Sunday evening, we will meet from 5:00pm – 7:00pm. Be sure to save the date so that you don’t miss out!
OK, here’s the plan for this particular 5:30pm – 10:00pm Youth event.. we’ll meet at the church at 5pm, make our way to Spectrum Bowling to play arcade games and have pizza. We’ll then make our way back to the church and watch a movie. Parents can therefore plan to pickup their student(s) at the church at 10pm.
The Teen After Church Outings involve various activities, food, fellowship and fun, provided by the student leaders & members of our congregation. They occur at varying dates and times throughout the year. Check with one of the youth leaders for more information.
